Vision
For teachers across Myanmar to deliver high quality education in the classroom by applying critical thinking methodologies.
Mission
The primary
objective of the Thinking Classroom Foundation is to promote democratic and
quality education and learning in Myanmar.
We hold a particular focus on classroom level change and policy level change to enable quality education in Myanmar, ethnic national schools, and the disadvantaged Thai-Burma border areas. We perceive teachers to be powerful agents in achieving this but the current teaching standards lack quality and depth. TCF thereby trains teachers, on a needs-basis, in Reading and Writing for Critical Thinking (RWCT) skills which will enable them to foster a culture of education, active learning and independent critical thought across Myanmar. Aims
· To strengthen the education system in Myanmar by promoting teacher competency and critical thinking skills in the development of democratic societies
· To educate young people to become knowledgeable and thoughtful citizens for a sustainable democratic change and strengthening civil societies · To advocate public education policy implication to encourage democratic education reform |
What Makes a Good Teacher?"Teachers are not guardians or influencers. They are facilitators who empower, enable and encourage students to cultivate their own ideas and independent critical analyses".

About RWCT Teaching Methodologies
The internationally recognised Reading and Writing for Critical Thinking (RWCT) programme is based on the idea that democratic practices in schools play an important role in their transition toward more open societies. RWCT introduces research-based, instructional methods to teachers and teacher educators. These methods are designed to help students think reflectively, take ownership for their personal learning, understand the logic of arguments, listen alternatively, debate confidently and become independent, life-long learners.
